Andrés Orozco-Estrada & Sol Gabetta

Our focus artist Sol Gabetta is always on the lookout for works "in which I can show exactly what defines me as a musician". Bohuslav Martinů's rarely performed cello concerto is one such work: she performed it once many years ago, then not again for a long time "because I didn't understand it at the time". But in the meantime, she has definitely fallen in love with this concerto. It is therefore fitting that Andres Orozco-Estrada conducts Strauss' "Don Juan" and Tchaikovsky's "Romeo and Juliet" as the framework for it: two tone poems that are also about love in very different ways.
