This spring, the JSO Crescendo presents a varied program. From Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's atmospheric overture “The Hebrides”, which musically captures the vastness and beauty of the Scottish islands, to Alexander Borodin's powerful and rhythmic Polovtsian Dances, which transport the audience to another world, the program promises a varied listening experience.
With John Bennet's “Weep, o mine eyes” and the “Sung Spring Trilogy”, which brings together works by Fanny Hensel, Käthi Schmid Lauber and Richard Strauss, fans of choral singing will also get their money's worth. Contemporary sounds can be heard in Caroline Shaw's sensitive “And the Swallow”, while the rousing Queen hit “Don't Stop Me Now” enriches the program with rocking energy.
Mario Bürki's “The Cliffs of Moher” musically captures the majestic beauty and wild power of the impressive Irish cliffs and transports the audience to a place full of natural splendor and breathtaking vastness, before the brilliant “Bacchanale” from Camille Saint-Saëns' opera “Samson et Dalila” concludes the concert with a thrilling finale.
