night body night voice is a dance and sound performance about the fear of being alone at night in a female-read body. This fear sits deep inside the body, shines through in the eyes and leaves a distinct taste in the cavity of the mouth. It is fueled by cautionary tales and stories that refer to or recount experiences of sexualised violence. What are we (not) taught to be afraid of in those stories? How could we re-write these tales and move toward more accurate narratives?
Together with sound artist Marquis' McGee and scenographer Lilli Unger under the dramaturgical guidance of Jo/Joseph/Josephine Baan, choreographer Charlotte Mathiessen invites the audience into a space in which the fear of the night can be simultaneously savoured, feared and re-imagined. Just as in cautionary tales, everything is simultaneously fictional and real.
