"It's over at forty": Martin Grubinger, the best-known of all percussionists, suggested this early on. Now he is 38 – and is actually putting an end to his solo career. The coming season will be his last; he says goodbye to the Zurich audience with Daníel Bjarnason's drum concert (and a family programme). It will be a Grubinger-style farewell, which could perhaps best be described as athletic-musical-choreographic. And he will definitely not only bang the drum, but also tickle, caress and lace his instruments until they give their all.
