Organ and orchestra with Herbert Blomstedt

Bach, Bruckner, Messiaen and focus artist Christian Schmitt: four organ virtuosos share the stage on this concert evening. While Bach and Messiaen also revolutionized the organ literature as composers, not a single work by Bruckner for the instrument of his choice has survived. But it is hard to ignore the fact that a master organist must have been at work in his Fifth Symphony: Bruckner's Fifth is considered a masterpiece of contrapuntal performance. It will be conducted by a special advocate of his music, Herbert Blomstedt.
